Spelthorne Council, part of 2M group, votes in favour of a third runway
22.02.07With just 6 days to go before the end of the Government consultation into adding capacity at Heathrow, Spelthorne Council, part of the 2M group of councils who have campaigned consistently against expansion at Heathrow, yesterday (21st February) voted in favour of building a third runway.
Lord Soley welcomed Spelthorne's decision and said that this, combined with the Populus Poll of local residetns views, puts into question the 2M claims to represent a majority of views against.
Additionally, Runnymede Council voted in favour of a third runway, and the Surrey County Council executive also voted in favour of expansion. This was of interest in particular because Surrey County Council once led the campaign against Terminal 5.
